10 Ways To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

Content + Distribution = FREE TRAFFIC

In this article, I’m going to discuss ways you can generate free website traffic.

Despite the plethora of 1-click software programs we’re constantly pitched, most do not live up to their claims; at least for the long haul.

I’ve found that these 10 traffic getting methods when implemented, will drive loads of traffic to your website or blog for zero cost.

You’ll have to roll up your sleeves and do some work. I didn’t say it was easy, but if you’re a newbie with little or no budget, these methods will get you traffic –  which ultimately translates into profits. Then you can either outsource the methods or use your profits to”buy” traffic.

10 Methods For Driving FREE Traffic

1. YouTube and Other Video Sites

YouTube is my first choice because YouTube videos get ranked super fast. And thanks to software (free and paid), there are lots of ways to create great videos. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Smartphone Camera. Got an iPhone or Android smartphone? Then you’re in business. With a little practice, you can be pumping out quality videos advertising your product or service in no time.
  • Animoto. Animoto used to be free. Now they charge $8.99/month for a basic membership. You can create real videos using images. You can add a limited amount of text and they even provide soundtracks to boot. Animoto is super-simple to learn and there are plenty of tutorials.  Go to Animoto.com and sign up for a free 7-day trial.
  • Jing. Think of Jing as Camtasia’s little brother. Both are produced by TechSmith. Camtasia will cost you over $300, while Jing is FREE. The tradeoff is that you are limited to a 5-minute video, which by the way is plenty of time to produce a cool screen capture video. Find out more about Jing here.
  • Windows MovieMaker. My least favorite choice is Windows Moviemaker. However, in a pinch, it too works and there is no limitation on the length of the video.

A video is a powerful traffic method… if you take action!

2. Blog Commenting

Blog commenting is another proven way to get targeted relevant traffic to your website. While there are software programs that can help with the heavy lifting, the most effective way to drive traffic with blog comments is to post them manually. This increases your chances of getting your blog comments approved by the blog owner.

The method is straightforward. Find blogs related to your niche. Read through the content and leave a comment that is relevant to the article and the adds value for the reader. Make sure you enter your information where requested and the URL to your site or the post/page of the article you’re promoting. When possible you can live a link within your comment recommending the reader visit your page for more information. DO NOT SPAM! It will only get your comment deleted.

There are only a couple of automated blog commenting software programs that I recommend.

ScrapeBox. ScrapeBox is a monster program that can create tens-of-thousands of blog comments. It is used by affiliate/online marketers (considered ‘BlackHat’)  and it does have a steep learning curve. The software sells for $97 and it has many specialized uses. To address what Scrapebox can do will require a post devoted solely to Scrapebox.  Maybe I’ll do one in the near future.

Comment Kahuna is another blog commenting software program that I’ve used for years and it is what I’d recommend starting with. It is not a ‘blackhat’ software, but it will save you loads of time identifying blogs in your niche where you can leave a relevant comment, add your link and drive targeted traffic to your blog or offer.

3. Forum Posting

Forum Posting is another popular method. In many ways, forums are the precursors to modern-day Social Media sites like Facebook. People join forums because of shared interests. Dog lovers join forums about dogs to get tips, share stories and learn more about their breed, etc.

The process is simple. Find forums in your niche and join them. Set up your profile, remember to add a link to your website in the profile and then become active in the forum. Leave comments, tips, etc. when appropriate. Avoid trying to sell anything; at least in the beginning. As you become known in the forum, and if you’ve been sharing good stuff you’ll gain the respect of forum members. Then over time, you can begin to share links to relevant content on your site, products, etc. with the forum members.  The trick here is to join multiple forums and to engage consistently.

As of late, lots of marketers simple join forums to get the back-link from the profile. While it’s a tactic that works when used correctly, just putting a link your profile will not get you traffic. You have to engage with others in the forum, establish credibility and contribute useful content when appropriate.

I also use forum profile links as a component of ‘Tiered Linking’ in SEO campaigns as well as participating in niche specialized forums regularly.

If you choose the ‘forum’ route, just know that it is not a quick fix to getting traffic.

4. Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your site, especially if you can create great content. Bloggers are always in search of relevant content as everyone grows weary of writing articles. The idea here is to contact the blog owner and offer to contribute content on their site. Nothing is guaranteed. You will more than likely have to send them content and wait for them to approve it. However, if what you send is high quality they will use it. As a guest blogger, you will be able to add a link back to your website. Guest blogging helps to establish you as an authority in your niche. Definitely drives traffic and it’s worth doing.

Matt Cutts (Google as a software engineer) recently posted an article on his blog, The decay and fall of guest blogging for SEO about Google’s concerns that Guest Blogging is being used as a method to game the Google algorithm for backlinks. It’s worth reading, especially if you are using Guest Bloggers on your personal blog.

Watch this video made by Matt Cutts on Guest Blogging. As long as you’re not trying to game the system, you will not incur the wrath of the Google gods!

5. Article Marketing

No, article marketing is not dead. Although the power article marketing once had has diminished, it’s still a method I use even now. Millions of people still use Article Directories as sources of content. Your goal if you should decide to use this method is to rise above your competition by creating quality content and optimizing it to outrank your competitors. The next most important, but often overlooked aspect of article marketing is the ‘Authors/Resource’ box. This is where you get to put in your link (often 2x) and refer the reader to your site for more information.

Tip – use the resource box to build your email list. Instead of sending readers to your blog/website home page, create a squeeze page and collect their name and email address. This is a far better way to use article marketing. You will get traffic and a lead. umkyseo can help you get the most out of your Amazon marketing efforts by looking at all aspects of your Amazon presence. They optimize your ad campaign using proven strategies that work to increase brand awareness and drive sales over the top.

6. Free Classifieds

Classified sites have been around forever. It kind of old school, but will still get you traffic if done correctly. In order to get clicks with classifieds, it all comes down to your copywriting skills. Classified ads are “tiny” and you’ve got to get your point across quickly and ‘sensationally’. Give people a reason to want to click your link. Examples of sites that offer classified ads are below.

  • Craigslists.com
  • Backpage.com
  • Ebay.com
  • Facebook.com

7. Social Media Sites

Social Media sites are more popular than ever. An added benefit is your content can go VIRAL, exploding traffic to your website. Popular Social Media sites include Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Flickr, MySpace, Tagged, MeetUp, etc.

Each platform has its own rules – but they are easy enough to comprehend and there are plenty of guides that can help you learn how to master them.

8. Press Releases

The Press Release is a useful way to generate traffic. (1) They can rank quickly and rank high in the search engines, (2) they establish your brand and (3) they establish your authority in your niche.

In addition, having a well-designed data governance program is important for businesses to avoid inconsistent data silos in different departments and business units.

9. Social Bookmarking

You should submit your content to as many social bookmarking sites as possible. Again, people are always in search of information. Social bookmarking sites make it easy for searchers to find relevant content that has already been codified for them. By bookmarking your content on multiple sites, you increase the chances of it being found getting traffic as the result. Sites like Reddit, StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious, etc. have huge audiences. With Social Bookmarking, as with Classified Ads, it comes down to your copywriting. Your title and description have to be compelling to entice readers to click through.

I have to admit, I do use software to handle my social bookmarking chores. When I first started it was easy because there were only a handful of these sites. Today there are thousands. Automation makes this chore simple and efficient.

10. Offline Traffic
Put your website URL on business cards, flyers, postcards, coffee mugs, t-shirts… anywhere you can think of.

To maximize your traffic efforts, use the above methods together. Never rely on just one method of getting traffic.

Social Video Formula Review|How To Profit With Facebook Video Ads

Facebook Video Ads are taking over!

According to Social Video Formula creator Bill McIntosh, you can ride the wave to big profits with Facebook Video Ads if you get in now.

It’s been a hot trending story for weeks now, that Facebook is going after YouTube for dominance in the online video marketplace. With their new auto-play video ads Facebook has made it easier and cheaper for advertisers to market their wares to highly targeted audiences, based on Facebook’s huge demographic engine.

Inside his Social Video Formula, reveals comprehensively what you have to do to profit fast using video ads on Facebook. The biggest advantage, at least at the moment is that the cost if really low… I mean really low!

Thousands of targeted clicks for pennies… who wouldn’t want those kinds of results at those costs? And, it is possible, if you know what you’re doing and that is what Social Video Formula teaches you to do.

Social Video Formula may be the low-cost paid traffic you’ve been searching for!

Facebook video ads are extremely hot and not many marketers are doing them right now. So this is just like Google Adwords about 15 years ago. With Facebook video ads you can get a lot of targeted traffic and get more sales for any kind of business and services, online or offline without breaking your bank account.

With the newly launched premium video ads, Facebook is definitely going to try to compete with YouTube. They were able to increase video views by 50% during the month of May & June 2015. So it looks like Facebook is on a good way to keep the users on their platform instead of going to YouTube. With the new Facebook video ads and the Social Video Formula blueprints you’ll be able to:

  • Get your videos viewed for less than a penny per view and you only pay based on actual views
  • Drive loads of targeted traffic to your site for CHEAP
  • Create video that are shared virally across social networks
  • Re-target everyone who watched your video on Facebook & run ANY kind of ad to that audience later
  • Only ads that are optimized based on your conversion rates are shown
  • Get cheaper traffic and higher conversions
  • And lots more…

Conclusion

I purchased Social Video Formula because I’m buying more paid traffic these days. I no longer want to depend on organic traffic only to drive targeted visitors to my landing pages or sales pages.

In my opinion, Facebook Video Ads offer the same opportunity that Google Adwords did 15 years ago which means you can earn big riding this wave for as long as you can.

Bill has put together a solid course.

I’ve published a very detailed overview of Social Video on Storify. You can read it here if you need more information before making a decision.

Otherwise, I recommend you grab a copy and then implement the strategies as outline.

How To Avoid Internet Marketing Product Scams

All The Glitters Is Not Gold…

In this somewhat lengthy article, I will give you my tips on How To Avoid Internet Marketing Product SCAMS and how to decide if a product is worth your investment.

If you’ve been involved in affiliate marketing for any length of time you are probably familiar with Clickbank.com and PayDotcom.com as well as other digital product sites.

Recently, Clickbank.com has come under fire as a result of so many products that failed to produce the results claimed by their creators. As a result that have made several changes to address the matter. In my opinion this is a good thing.

With all the challenges we as online marketers face daily, becoming the victim of some unscrupulous “guru” pitching a SCAM Internet marketing product is the last thing we need.

Here are my tips for avoiding scams that waste your money.

1. Self Evaluation – Know your strengths and weaknesses. By performing a self inventory you will discover that you probably do not need to purchase every new shiny object that promises instant success.

Get a blank piece of page and draw a line down the center. In the left hand column, write down all the things you see as necessary for building your online business. They might include:

  • Traffic Generation
  • List Building
  • WordPress Blogs
  • Keyword Research
  • and so on…

In the right hand column, rate your ability using A-B-C-D, you get the picture. This is a quick way to determine areas that you already have skills in as opposed to those for which an eBook or training course would be helpful.

Before you spend a dime, ask yourself – Do I Really Need This?

2. Learn the Basics – I talk to folks all the time who cannot perform the most basic tasks related to marketing online.

There are fundamental skills that every online marketer should possess. These are tasks related to your business that you can do without the use of software, a training guide or a coaching program.

Basic skills should include:

  • How to perform Keyword Research using Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool
  • How to set-up a WordPress blog
  • How to do basic on-page SEO
  • How to write a basic 500 word product review
  • How to post on Web 2.0 properties, i.e. Squidoo, HubPages, Blogger, WordPress.com, Weebly, etc.
  • How to use Social Media, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, G+, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.
  • How to set-up a Squeeze-Page for list building.
  • How to use an autoresponder service such as Aweber, GetResponse, etc.

These are the core elements of marketing online. A lot of new marketers skip past these basics, drawn in by the allure of 1-2-3 click software like a butterfly to the flame.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the leverage that software provides and I use software daily. However, I do not want to be like so many of the kids working in retail today who cannot count change without the help of the computerized cash register.

Okay, you’ve done your self-evaluation and determined your basic skill set. What’s next?

3. Performing Your Due Diligence

Due diligence” is a term used for a number of concepts involving either an investigation of a business or person prior to signing a contract, or an act with a certain standard of care. It can be a legal obligation, but the term will more commonly apply to voluntary investigations. A common example of due diligence in various industries is the process through which a potential acquirer evaluates a target company or its assets for acquisition. Wikipedia

There is a HUGE difference between promoting a product as an affiliate and choosing a product for personal use; although there can be overlap.

Don’t forget, the goal of product creators is to sell products and generate profits. They employ affiliates to accomplish this.

This is why most review sites are little more than “pre-sell” pages. This is often masked in the headline of the product review with phrases such as: “Don’t Buy”, “Is It A Scam”, “I’m About To Get A Refund and Here’s Why”.

However, you soon discover that the “review” is simply a veiled sales pitch.

And review sites work for sure. Suffice it to say that it is the nature of the industry. Skilled sales people know how to push psychological buttons and trigger emotions that cause us to buy their products. More on that later.

Here is what I look for when choosing an internet marketing product…

  1. Do I really need the product? How will the product impact my bottom line.
  2. Who is the product creator? (This is not always a positive factor.)
    • Does the product creator have a good reputation in the marketplace.
      • Check forums like the Warriors forum. Read all the responses.
    • Have they released other products? What are people saying about them?
    • Have I purchased a product from them in the past? Was it of value? Did it perform as promised?
    • Do they provide product support?
    • Is there a money back guarantee?
  3. What is the learning curve? How long will it take me to master this strategy, technique,  or software?
    • Does the product provide a step-by-step guide or video tutorials?
  4. Are there additional costs? Will I need to purchase the upgraded version to really see results or can I achieve them with the basic version? (this is the Catch 22 with many software products)
  5. If the product is software or a WordPress plugin, will the product creator provide free updates? (WordPress upgrades almost monthly and often plugins become obsolete)

Final Thoughts on Avoiding Internet Marketing Product Scams

Avoid the “herd” mentality. There is a tendency for humans to get caught up in the frenzy of “group” thinking. Well, everybody is buying it, it must work!

Most successful product launches rely on “BUZZ” created by the product creator and their JV Affiliates who promote the product. You may receive email boasting about the GRAVITY a product has achieved on Clickbank. Know that gravity is merely a metric that measures the number of affiliate that have made a sale of a given product that month. It is not a true indication of whether or not a product is any good. I can tell you that I have fallen victim to the hype myself many times, until I started implementing these steps.

If you decide to purchase a product; especially if it is a marketing system, work that system until you see results. Do everything outlined in the course. Generally you will have 30-60 days to evaluate the product for free. Use that time wisely. If the product fails to perform, you can legitimately ask for a refund. If it worked for you as promised, you can provide a meaningful testimonial and promote the product yourself if you like with confidence and proof that it works.

Bring The Fresh Review

Lastly, my recommendation. I use the principles taught in Bring The Fresh daily. It has been an invaluable resource and has paid for itself over and over again. And no, it is not a new product. Moreover, it teaches fundamental as well as advanced techniques for making money online quickly and there is no additional software required. If you decide to join Bring the Fresh, you’ll automatically gain access to the BTF forum where you can discuss successes and challenges with other marketer and get advice which is pretty cool.

If you are just starting out, or even if you have been marketing online for a while – you will benefit from this course.

The product creators (Mike Long & Kelly Felix) are well known and credible – check it out, Bring The Fresh.
